We want to thank the beautiful ladies of the 3C’s for their very generous support of Chrysalis! Thanks to all of you, we will be able to purchase snow tires for both of our behicles and keep our children and adults safe this winter.
When we began Chrysalis almost two years ago, we were blessed with a myriad of donations, from fabric to art supplies, to games and puzzles. All of these have been well-loved, and our supplies have become seriously depleted. This grant money will go towards replenishing these items as well as purchasing new items for the clients to use. Currently our amazing staff have been donating these items.
This grant will help staff expand their curriculum. For example, we will be purchasing a new monitor for the art class that will allow the staff to show our participants the steps and directions in detail needed to create their own incredible artwork. We will also be working on getting new tools for our cooking classes and our sewing classes.
Our children’s program will be getting new manipulatives, a new music keyboard and some much-needed games. A couple of stories about how these will benefit our children: the new keyboard is especially soothing for one of our young ladies whose anxieties keep her from enjoying her day-to-day life. She loves to sing, and she loves music!
You might wonder why we play games, what does that have to do with therapies? Here is just one example: one of our young men with autism has never participated in playing with another child or even his family. Over the past year, this young man has learned to play Uno not only at Chrysalis but at home as well. It gives them a way to do things together as a family rather than him just going to his room to watch movies and has drawn them closer. He smiles and laughs now when he plays with his peers; a year ago that was just a dream.
The clients that we serve have developmental disabilities which does not mean they are not smart, it just means that their brains develop at a different pace. That is what the therapy at Chrysalis does for our friends. 3C’s, you have helped make this possible and we cannot thank you enough!
